Front upper control arm bumper designed for 1970–1996 GM cars to cushion upper control arm travel and prevent metal‑to‑metal contact at bump stops. Made from a durable elastomer compound, it protects control arm pivots, ball joints, and chassis mounts from impact and overtravel, reducing noise and vibration while preserving factory ride characteristics. This direct‑fit replacement restores original suspension limits, helps prevent premature component wear, and is an easy, cost‑effective part of a suspension restoration or maintenance job.
Features:
  • Fits 1970–1996 GM cars — front upper control arm bumper replacement for compatible GM models.
  • Durable elastomer construction resists compression set, oil, and road contaminants.
  • Cushions upper control arm travel to prevent metal‑to‑metal contact and damage.
  • Helps reduce suspension noise and vibration while preserving factory ride height and travel.
  • Direct‑fit replacement for easy installation during restoration or routine maintenance.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 15-45 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench or impact
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Pry bar or flat screwdriver
  • Penetrating oil (optional)
  • Rubber mallet or press (optional)
  • Shop rags
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and loosen lug nuts slightly on the front wheel.
  2. Raise the vehicle with a floor jack and secure it on jack stands. Remove the front wheel to access the upper control arm area.
  3. Locate the upper control arm bumper (typically on or near the control arm mount or frame stop). Inspect the existing bumper for mount type (press‑in, threaded, or slip‑on).
  4. If corroded or stuck, apply penetrating oil and allow it to soak. Use a pry bar or large flat screwdriver to carefully work the old bumper free; cut it out if necessary.
  5. Clean the mounting surface of dirt, rust, and old rubber. Wipe with a rag and apply a light coat of lubricant if the new bumper is a press‑fit.
  6. Align the new bumper with the mount and press it into place by hand. Use a rubber mallet or a suitable press to fully seat the bumper without damaging it.
  7. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to manufacturer specifications. Test by slowly compressing the suspension to ensure proper engagement and clearance.
  8. Recheck after a short test drive and inspect for proper seating and any unusual noises.
