1964-1974 GM car lower control arm (A-arm) bumper designed to protect suspension components by cushioning and limiting lower control arm travel. This replacement bumper prevents metal-to-metal contact, reduces noise and vibration, and helps preserve the control arm and frame mounting points. Constructed for long life and repeated service, it restores proper bump-stop function for classic GM cars, improving ride quality and prolonging the life of steering and suspension parts. Easy to install as a direct replacement during routine suspension work or restoration projects.
Features:
  • Fits 1964–1974 GM cars — check application for exact models and mounting style
  • Made from high-durometer polyurethane for long-lasting durability and resistance to oil, grease, ozone and weathering
  • Cushions the lower control arm (A-arm) to prevent metal-on-metal contact and component damage
  • Reduces suspension noise and vibration; restores original bump-stop travel and ride characteristics
  • Direct replacement for worn or missing bumpers — simple installation during suspension maintenance or restoration
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Pliers
  • Flathead screwdriver or pry bar
  • Rubber mallet or dead-blow hammer
  • Penetrating oil (if needed)
  • Cleaning rags and small wire brush
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake and place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front wheel lug nuts, raise the front of the vehicle with a floor jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
  3. Locate the lower control arm bumper on the control arm or frame bracket. Support the control arm with a jack or block to relieve tension on the bumper.
  4. Apply penetrating oil to any rusted fasteners if applicable. Remove the old bumper by prying or tapping out with a punch; in some designs the bumper pulls off or presses out.
  5. Clean the mounting area with a wire brush and rags; remove rust, dirt and old rubber residue to ensure a proper seating surface.
  6. Lubricate the new bumper lightly with soapy water or a small amount of silicone grease to aid installation. Press or tap the new bumper into place using a rubber mallet or by pressing it into the bracket until fully seated.
  7. Lower the control arm slowly to take up the bumper and confirm proper seating and alignment with the frame or bracket.
  8. Reinstall the wheel, hand-tighten lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to manufacturer specifications.
  9. Test drive at low speed to verify noise reduction and proper suspension travel. Recheck the bumper seating after a short break-in drive.
