Left-hand hood hinge assembly for 1963-1967 GM cars designed to secure, align and support the vehicle hood. This bolt-on replacement (sold without spring) restores proper hood fitment and gap alignment, ensuring smooth opening and closing while preventing vibration and metal-on-metal wear. Constructed from robust stamped steel with a corrosion-resistant finish for long service life, it offers dependable, OEM-style performance for restorations or repairs and is an easy, reliable upgrade to worn or damaged hinges.
Features:
- Fits 1963-1967 GM cars — left-hand (driver's side) hood hinge assembly.
- Stamped steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for durability.
- Secures and aligns the hood to restore correct gaps and smooth operation.
- Sold without spring — reuse original spring or purchase separately.
- Bolt-on replacement for restoration, repair, or rusted hinge replacement.
- Designed for reliable, long-term service and easy installation.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, set parking brake, and open the hood. Support the hood securely with a prop or have an assistant hold it; alternatively use a floor jack with a wood block under the hood to prevent damage.
- If a spring is attached to the existing hinge, note its orientation and carefully relieve spring tension before detaching — springs are under tension and can be hazardous.
- Apply penetrating oil to mounting bolts if necessary. Loosen and remove the bolts securing the old hinge to the hood and to the hinge pillar, keeping track of any washers or spacers.
- Remove the old hinge assembly and, if reusing the spring or any small hardware, transfer those components to the new hinge assembly.
- Position the replacement hinge on the hood and hinge pillar. Start all mounting bolts by hand to ensure correct alignment before tightening.
- With the hood properly supported and aligned, snug the hinge bolts, then check hood gaps and fit at the front and sides. Adjust hinge position as needed to achieve even gaps.
- Once aligned, torque the hinge fasteners to factory specifications (use a torque wrench) and reinstall or attach the hood spring per original orientation or manufacturer spring instructions.
- Cycle the hood several times to confirm smooth operation and correct alignment. Recheck fastener tightness after a short test drive or use period.
