Upgrade the factory front suspension of your 1962?67 Chevy II Nova with a high-performance Mustang II front end. This heavy-duty crossmember, crafted from durable 7-gauge steel, is engineered to accept a no-strut Mustang II independent front suspension (IFS), rack-and-pinion steering, and enhanced brake components. The complete subframe kit includes all the specialized brackets and mounts required for a seamless installation, along with detailed step-by-step instructions to guide the process. Complete installation may require you to purchase corresponding a-arms, shocks, springs, brake kit, spindles, and steering rack and pinion along with any necessary hardware that is not included. Either manual or power steering can be used with this crossmember. The passenger side mount has a slot that will take the later model power rack. With all Mustang II aftermarket crossmembers, spacers and longer bolts must be used with the later (Fox-body) power rack.
Installing a Mustang II front suspension might seem like a big project at first, but for the hands-on builder, the results are absolutely worth it. You'll notice a major improvement in how your car handles and rides, and with plenty of brake upgrade options available, you'll get much better stopping power too. Honestly, once you drive it, you'll be asking yourself, why didn't I do this sooner? One of the biggest upgrades is the independent front suspension. Compared to a stock front suspension, which usually gives you about 2-1/2 inches of travel, the Mustang II setup offers around 4-1/2 to 5 inches. That extra suspension travel makes for a smoother, more controlled ride?especially on real-world roads.
