Reproduction Dixco style hood tachometer for universal applications. This tach was a popular dealer installed accessory and was used by a number of high profile builders back in the day, incuding Yenko, Baldwin, Garlits, and others. Each tachometer features an electronic movement and reset to "0" once they receive 12 volts of power. Works with factory points style ignition and GM HEI. Any aftermarket ignition may need a module or convertor to give correct signal. Important: When using aftermarket ignition systems like Pertronix, MSD, or Accel, the voltage output to the tachometer lead is generally higher than what a factory tachometer can handle. Factory tachometers can operate on voltage ranging from 11.2 to 14.7. Most aftermarket ignition systems generate over 18 volts. A voltage adapter is required in order to lower the voltage to the GM specification. Red wire goes to positive, black wire is ground, and green wire goes to tachometer. The tachometer is lighted.
