Direct-fit 61L fuel tank replacement designed for 1962–1967 Chevrolet Chevy II (except 1962–1963 3-seat wagon). This heavy-duty restoration tank restores original fuel capacity (approximately 16.1 US gallons) and provides a reliable, corrosion-resistant receptacle for your vehicle’s fuel system. Supplied without a filler neck, it accepts the factory sending unit and bolt locations for straightforward installation. Ideal for restorations and maintenance, the tank helps prevent leaks, reduces corrosion risk, and returns the fuel system to OEM fit and function.

  • Helper (recommended for handling tank)
Instructions:
  1. Prepare vehicle: work on a level surface, engage parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Drain remaining fuel from the old tank into an approved container or siphon to lower level safely.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle with jack stands; place a floor jack under the tank area for support.
  4. Relieve any fuel system pressure and disconnect fuel lines, vent hoses, filler neck, and electrical connector(s) to the sending unit. Label lines if needed.
  5. Support the tank with the floor jack and remove mounting strap bolts or fasteners. Carefully lower the tank with assistance.
  6. Transfer the sending unit, straps, rubber isolators, and any fittings from the old tank to the new tank if required. Replace gaskets and seal rings as needed.
  7. Inspect and clean mounting area, fuel lines, and straps. Replace any corroded hardware or hoses.
  8. Position the new tank under the vehicle, raise into place with the jack, and secure with straps/fasteners to factory torque specifications.
  9. Reconnect fuel lines, vent hoses, filler neck, and electrical connections. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  10. Check for leaks by adding a small amount of fuel and pressurizing the system (turning key to ON without starting) or visually inspecting. Start the engine and inspect again for leaks and proper operation.
