Direct-fit horn relay for 1966–1971 GM cars that restores reliable horn operation by switching high horn current away from the steering column switch. Designed as a durable replacement for aging or failed relays, it protects the horn button and wiring, reduces voltage drop for a louder, more consistent horn, and simplifies classic car electrical restoration. Easy to install and built for long-term reliability in vintage GM restoration and maintenance projects.
Features:
  • Fits 1966–1971 GM cars (Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, Cadillac) — confirm fitment for your model and year.
  • Direct replacement relay to restore proper horn function and responsiveness.
  • Switches high current to protect the horn button and original wiring harness.
  • Durable housing with corrosion-resistant terminals for long service life.
  • Reduces voltage drop for louder, more consistent horn operation.
  • Ideal for classic car restorations, maintenance, and electrical troubleshooting.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 15-30 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • 10mm socket or wrench
  • Flathead or Phillips screwdriver
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Wire brush or contact cleaner
  • Multimeter (optional)
  • Electrical tape or heat-shrink (optional)
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on a level surface, turn off ignition, and disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Locate the horn relay—common locations include under the dash near the steering column, on the firewall, or in the fuse/relay panel. Consult a factory wiring diagram if unsure.
  3. Before removal, note or label all terminal connections and take a photo for reference.
  4. Remove mounting fastener(s) and carefully pull the old relay from its socket or unplug the wiring harness. Clean any corrosion from terminals or the socket with a wire brush or contact cleaner.
  5. Install the new relay by aligning terminals and plugging it into the socket or reconnecting the harness. Secure any mounting hardware.
  6. Reconnect the negative battery terminal and test the horn. If the horn does not operate, check fuse(s), ground connections, and verify correct terminal wiring with a multimeter.
  7. Once confirmed working, secure any loose wiring and reassemble panels as needed.
