Right-hand trunk floor drop-off panel for 1968-1974 Chevy II / Nova. This weld-in replacement restores the correct trunk-to-quarter-panel contour, provides a solid substrate for carpet and trim, and addresses common rust and corrosion damage in the trunk corner. Stamped to OE-style contours for accurate fitment, it offers a reliable, long-lasting repair when properly welded, sealed, and finished — ideal for restoration projects and maintenance repairs.
Features:
  • Fits 1968-1974 Chevy II / Nova — right-hand (passenger side) trunk floor drop-off panel.
  • Stamped steel construction formed to match original equipment contours for a precise fit.
  • Weld-in design replaces corroded metal to restore structural integrity and trunk geometry.
  • Provides correct mounting surface for trunk carpet, trim, and spare tire components.
  • Durable repair option when welded, sealed, primed, and painted to prevent future rust.
  • Designed for restoration and replacement applications to return trunk area to factory condition.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 2-4 hours (depending on rust extent and experience)
Suggested Tools:
  • Angle grinder with cutting and grinding discs
  • Drill with spot-weld cutter or drill bits
  • MIG or TIG welder
  • Clamps and welding magnets
  • Hammer and dolly set
  • Wire brush or rotary wire wheel
  • Measuring tape and marker
  • Seam sealer
  • Epoxy or high-build primer and paint
  • Safety gear (gloves, eye protection, respirator)
Instructions:
  1. Confirm vehicle fitment (1968-1974 Chevy II / Nova) and inspect the trunk area to identify all rusted or damaged metal to be removed.
  2. Remove trunk trim, mat, spare tire, and any items obstructing access to the repair area.
  3. Use a drill with a spot-weld cutter or an angle grinder to remove spot welds and cut out the corroded section along original seams; preserve as much good metal as possible.
  4. Test-fit the replacement panel, trimming or adjusting as needed for a snug, gap-free fit against mating surfaces.
  5. Clean mating surfaces of rust, paint, and debris; clamp the panel into position and tack-weld in multiple locations to hold alignment.
  6. Complete welds using short stitch welds to minimize heat distortion; allow cooling between welds and use a hammer/dolly to correct any warpage.
  7. Grind welds smooth where desired, then treat bare metal with a rust-inhibiting primer or weld-through primer.
  8. Apply seam sealer to all joints and seams, then finish with epoxy primer and topcoat to match the trunk interior.
  9. Reinstall trunk components, verify fit and drainage paths, and inspect the repair for proper sealing against moisture intrusion.
