Front upper replacement ball joint designed for 1962-1967 Chevrolet Chevy II vehicles. This precision-engineered component restores proper steering geometry, eliminates play in the front suspension, and helps maintain tire wear alignment. Constructed from hardened steel with a protective finish and sealed bearing for long-lasting performance, the part is suitable for both right- and left-hand upper control arm locations. Ideal for restoration projects and routine suspension maintenance, it delivers reliable operation and improved steering feel.
Features:
  • Fits 1962-1967 Chevrolet Chevy II (front upper, right and left hand applications)
  • Hardened steel ball and stud for improved strength and longevity
  • Sealed bearing design helps retain lubrication and block contaminants
  • Direct OE-style replacement to restore steering accuracy and eliminate play
  • Protective finish resists corrosion for lasting durability
  • Easy-to-install design suitable for restoration and maintenance work
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Wrenches
  • Ball joint separator (pickle fork) or press
  • Hammer
  • Torque wrench
  • Pliers
  • Grease (if applicable) and rags
  • PB Blaster or penetrating oil
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on a level surface, chock rear wheels, loosen front wheel lug nuts.
  2. Raise the front of the vehicle with a floor jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
  3. Locate the front upper ball joint on the control arm and spray fasteners with penetrating oil if needed.
  4. Remove cotter pin and castle nut from the ball joint stud, then separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or pickle fork. Support the knuckle to avoid straining brake lines.
  5. If the ball joint is riveted, remove rivets or drill them out per vehicle specifics. If bolted, remove retaining bolts/nuts attaching the ball joint to the control arm.
  6. Press or drive the old ball joint out of the control arm. Clean the control arm bore and inspect for wear or damage.
  7. Install the new ball joint into the control arm. If a press is required, use appropriate adapters to press the joint squarely into place. Reinstall any retaining bolts or use supplied hardware as specified.
  8. Reattach the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle, torque the castle nut to manufacturer specification, and insert a new cotter pin where applicable.
  9. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
  10. Have front-end alignment checked and adjusted as necessary after replacement to ensure proper tire wear and handling.
