Heavy-duty replacement center link designed for 1970-1981 Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and Pontiac passenger cars with power steering. This center link restores correct steering geometry by securely connecting the pitman arm, idler arm and inner tie rod ends, helping to reduce play, improve steering response, and extend the life of related front-end components. Constructed from high-strength steel with precision-machined attachment points and a corrosion-resistant finish, it offers durable, reliable performance for restoration projects and routine maintenance. Easy to inspect and replace as part of front-end overhaul or alignment service.

Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5

Instructions:
- Park on level ground, set parking brake and place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.
- Raise the front of the vehicle and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheels if needed for access.
- Apply penetrating oil to nuts and bolts at the pitman and idler arm connections, and allow to soak.
- Disconnect the outer tie rod ends from the steering knuckles if required for clearance; remove cotter pins and loosen nuts.
- Use a pitman arm puller or appropriate tool to separate the pitman arm from the center link; use care to avoid damaging threads or surrounding components.
- Loosen and remove the mounting fasteners connecting the center link to the idler arm and pitman arm, then remove the old center link.
- Compare new center link to the removed part to verify alignment and fitment. Transfer any necessary components (bushings, sleeves) if required by your vehicle.
- Install the new center link in position and hand-tighten mounting fasteners. Reconnect the pitman and idler arms and install new cotter pins where applicable.
- Torque all fasteners to the manufacturer's specifications using a torque wrench.
- Reconnect tie rods and steering knuckles, tighten nuts, and install new cotter pins if used.
- Lower the vehicle to the ground, then check steering free-play and cycle the steering from lock-to-lock to verify smooth operation.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to restore correct steering geometry and tire wear characteristics.
