Inner tie rod end (right/left hand) designed for 1985–1988 Chevrolet and Toyota models equipped with power steering. This critical steering linkage component connects the steering rack to the outer tie rod, ensuring precise wheel alignment and responsive steering. Built for durability to withstand road shocks and steering forces, it restores factory steering geometry, reduces play and vibration, and improves handling. Engineered as a direct replacement for worn or damaged inner tie rods, it’s ideal for routine maintenance, restoration projects, and suspension system repairs.
Features:
  • Fitment: 1985-1988 Chevrolet and Toyota models with power steering (inner tie rod end, right or left hand).
  • High-strength steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
  • Precision ball-and-socket assembly restores steering accuracy and reduces play.
  • Sealed design helps retain grease and keep out contaminants for reliable operation.
  • Direct-fit replacement for OEM inner tie rods — no modification required.
  • Improves steering feel, reduces vibration, and helps maintain proper wheel alignment.
  • Suitable for restoration projects and routine steering/suspension maintenance.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 45-90 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench
  • Wrenches/sockets (including adjustable wrench)
  • Tie rod/end puller or pickle fork
  • Torque wrench
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Marker or paint pen
  • Grease (if required)
  • Penetrating oil
Instructions:
  1. Park on a level surface, engage parking brake and block rear wheels. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise the vehicle and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel for access.
  3. Locate the inner tie rod end on the steering rack and clean the area. Apply penetrating oil to fasteners if corroded.
  4. Mark the position of the outer tie rod relative to the inner rod or count turns to preserve alignment settings.
  5. Loosen and remove the locknut or retaining fastener at the outer tie rod. Use a tie rod puller or pickle fork to separate the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle.
  6. Loosen the inner tie rod locking nut at the rack. Remove any retaining clips or boots as needed to access the inner tie rod.
  7. Unscrew the old inner tie rod from the steering rack using the appropriate wrench or inner tie rod tool. Inspect rack threads and boots for damage.
  8. Install the new inner tie rod by threading it onto the rack to the marked position or to match the original turn count. Tighten to the vehicle manufacturer’s torque specification.
  9. Reinstall and tighten the inner tie rod locknut. Reattach the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and secure with its nut/clip, torquing to spec.
  10. Reinstall the dust boot or bellows and ensure all clamps/seals are secure. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
  11. Drive the vehicle for a short distance and have a professional wheel alignment performed to ensure proper toe and prevent uneven tire wear.
