Inner left-hand tie rod end designed for 1975-1981 Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and Pontiac vehicles. This steering component secures the inner connection between the steering rack and outer tie rod, maintaining proper wheel alignment and steering response. Built to replace worn or damaged OEM parts, it restores precise steering geometry, reduces play, and improves vehicle safety. Durable construction and a corrosion-resistant finish provide long service life, while a direct-fit design simplifies installation for restoration and maintenance projects.
Features:
  • Direct-fit for 1975-1981 Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and Pontiac models (inner left-hand tie rod end).
  • Forged steel construction for strength and long-term durability.
  • Precision-machined ball stud and tapered seat to reduce steering play and maintain alignment.
  • Corrosion-resistant coating extends service life in wet and salty environments.
  • Sealed joint design helps retain grease and keep out contaminants.
  • Ideal for restorations and replacement of worn OEM steering components.
  • Easy-to-install direct replacement—no modifications required.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Wrench set (including appropriate sizes for tie rod and lock nut)
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • Torque wrench
  • Pliers
  • Penetrating oil
  • Grease (if applicable)
  • Wheel alignment equipment or service
Instructions:
  1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake and loosen the front wheel lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise the front of the vehicle with a floor jack and secure it on jack stands. Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod assembly.
  3. Apply penetrating oil to the tie rod end threads and jam nut to ease removal.
  4. Loosen the jam/lock nut that secures the inner tie rod, but do not remove it yet. Count the number of turns to preserve approximate alignment.
  5. Remove the cotter pin (if present) and unbolt the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle, then separate it using a tie rod puller or pickle fork.
  6. Unscrew and remove the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod to clear the assembly if necessary.
  7. Remove the jam/lock nut and unthread the inner left-hand tie rod end from the steering rack. Use caution not to damage rack threads.
  8. Install the new inner left-hand tie rod end by threading it onto the steering rack to the previously counted turns as a starting point for alignment.
  9. Tighten the jam/lock nut against the tie rod end to the specified torque.
  10. Reattach outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle, torque the nut to factory specification and install a new cotter pin if required.
  11. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
  12. Have a professional wheel alignment performed to ensure correct toe and steering geometry.
