Inner right-hand tie rod end engineered for direct-fit replacement on 1975–1981 Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac passenger cars and light trucks. This steering linkage component secures the inner end of the tie rod to the steering rack or center link, restoring proper steering geometry and reducing play. Constructed from hardened steel with corrosion-resistant finish and a greaseable or sealed joint option, it delivers long-lasting durability and reliable performance for restoration projects and routine maintenance. Easy to install with basic hand tools, it helps improve steering response, reduces vibration, and prevents premature tire wear.
Features:
- Fits 1975–1981 Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac passenger cars and light trucks (inner tie rod end, right-hand side).
- Hardened steel construction for strength and long service life.
- Corrosion-resistant finish to withstand road exposure and aging.
- Precisely machined ball stud for reduced play and accurate steering feel.
- Greaseable or sealed joint options to suit restoration or low-maintenance needs.
- Direct-fit replacement for stock tie rod inner ends — ideal for restorations and repairs.
- Simple installation with common tools; helps restore alignment and reduce tire wear.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake, and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise the vehicle with a jack, and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Locate the inner right-hand tie rod end on the steering rack or center link and mark the position of the old part relative to the steering rack or linkage to preserve alignment.
- Loosen and remove the lock nut securing the outer tie rod end (if applicable) and separate the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or pickle fork. Unscrew the outer tie rod from the inner assembly enough to free it.
- Loosen and remove the inner tie rod end retaining nut at the steering rack or center link. Use a tie rod tool or appropriate wrench to withdraw the inner tie rod end from the rack or linkage.
- Compare the new inner tie rod end to the old part to confirm fit and length. If greaseable, apply recommended chassis grease to the joint.
- Install the new inner tie rod end by threading it into the steering rack or center link to the reference mark made earlier. Tighten the retaining nut to the manufacturer-specified torque.
- Reattach the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and tighten its lock nut to specification. Ensure the total length and angular orientation match the original to minimize alignment changes.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
- Check steering operation and take the vehicle for a short test drive. Have a professional wheel alignment performed to ensure correct toe settings and prevent uneven tire wear.
