Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Carefully remove the old quarter window weatherstrip and any attached trim using a trim tool or flat-head screwdriver, taking care not to damage the glass or surrounding metal.
- Clean the channel and surrounding surfaces thoroughly with a rag and isopropyl alcohol to remove old adhesive, dirt, and debris. Allow to dry completely.
- Test-fit the new seal along the glass and channel to confirm correct orientation (left/driver side) and length. Trim excess if necessary with a utility knife.
- If desired, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive into the channel or onto the seal’s bulb per the adhesive manufacturer's instructions. Adhesive is optional for many installations but can improve retention.
- Starting at one end, press the seal into the channel evenly, working along the entire length and ensuring the seal seats fully without twists or gaps. Use a trim tool or your thumbs to press it into place.
- Reinstall any trim or hardware that was removed and verify the quarter glass operates (if applicable) and seals correctly. Adjust as needed.
- Allow adhesive to cure if used (follow adhesive cure time) before exposing to moisture or driving at high speeds.
