Outer tie rod end (right hand) for 1985–2006 Chevrolet, Lexus, Scion, and Toyota vehicles. This replacement tie rod end secures the outer steering linkage to the steering knuckle, maintaining accurate steering geometry and vehicle alignment. Built from corrosion-resistant steel with a durable ball-and-socket joint and greaseable boot (where applicable), it restores steering responsiveness, reduces play, and prevents premature wear of suspension components. Designed for direct-fit replacement to support safe, reliable steering performance and long service life.
Features:
- Fitment: 1985–2006 Chevrolet, Lexus, Scion, and Toyota vehicles — outer right-hand tie rod end (right hand).
- Direct-fit replacement for factory outer tie rod ends; restores proper steering alignment and response.
- Constructed from heat-treated steel with a corrosion-resistant finish for long-lasting durability.
- Ball-and-socket joint reduces steering play and vibration while maintaining smooth articulation.
- Greaseable design or sealed boot options help extend service life and simplify maintenance.
- Ideal for restoration, routine maintenance, or repair after wear or collision damage.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-90 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle and support securely on jack stands. Remove the wheel to access the tie rod end.
- Locate the outer tie rod end at the steering knuckle. Mark the position of the tie rod end on the inner tie rod (count turns or use a paint mark) to preserve alignment.
- Remove the cotter pin and loosen the castle nut (or retaining nut) on the tie rod end stud. Do not fully remove the nut yet.
- Use a tie rod end puller or a hammer to separate the tie rod end stud from the steering knuckle. Once separated, remove the retaining nut and thread the outer tie rod end off the inner tie rod.
- Compare the new tie rod end to the old unit to confirm correct length and orientation. Transfer any grease fittings if necessary.
- Thread the new outer tie rod end onto the inner tie rod to the marked position (or match the original turn count) to maintain approximate alignment.
- Insert the tie rod end stud into the steering knuckle, install the retaining nut and torque to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification. Install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- If the new unit is greaseable, apply grease through the fitting until the boot slightly expands. Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle.
- Tighten wheel lug nuts to specification and perform a professional wheel alignment as soon as possible to ensure proper toe and prevent premature tire wear.
