Instructions:
- Remove the molding: gently pry or slide the trim away from the panel to expose old clips.
- Remove old clip and clean hole: use pliers or screwdriver to pull out the old clip; clean out rust, dirt, or paint build-up from the mounting hole.
- Inspect molding flange: ensure the molding edge or pocket that accepts the clip is not damaged or distorted.
- Position the clip on the molding: slide or seat the stamped clip onto the molding flange so the locating tabs align with the body holes.
- Align and press into place: line up the clip with the body mounting hole, then press firmly (or tap lightly with a rubber mallet) until the clip snaps into the panel.
- Check retention and fit: verify the molding seats flush and is secure; repeat for each clip as needed.
- Optional — corrosion protection: if desired, apply a light coating of rust inhibitor or grease to the clip before installation for extra protection.
